Employers Should Continue To Use Existing Version Of Form I-9 For Now

The current version of the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 shows an expiration date of March 31, 2016. As of today, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has not yet issued a new version of the Form I-9. In November 2015, USCIS requested and began accepting public comments on their proposed changes to the Form I-9. USCIS is now considering the public comments submitted and will publish a second notice, to which the public will have thirty days to respond. As with the last time the Form I-9 expired in 2013, the USCIS will most likely announce that the current version should continue to be used, even after the listed expiration date, until the new version is announced.
